I am a visual artist, my work is influenced by Pop Art in some aspects but in other I could also be labelled as a Modern Expressionist…

Modern Expressionism feeds from the roots of Abstract Expressionism and German Expressionism, only it is combined with present day media, & urban culture!

Modern expressionism is better described when an artist creates their art work by merging objects, images, and subject matter directly with their “EMOTIONS…”

It is accomplish with use of lateral and abstract emphasis on colour, texture, unnatural depth, exaggeration and modified surrounding imagery.

In my work there is also a great influence of the Vanitas Movement from the 16th and 17th century, were skulls, and the question about life and  death was predominant…

From the latin” Vanita, vanitatum omnia Vanitas”: Vanity of Vanities ,all is vanity!!

This style contains pictorial message with moral undertones…that relates to the futility of existence and the absurdity of all humans endeavours…

As you can read my work and inspiration is a combination of things and therefore explore many topics…

The bright colours and ,sometimes, cartoon characters chosen to approach topics make  the work fun and comical  and give it a very modern edge...

Now enjoy the gallery…or not!!!!

Please remember, that, although I have given you an insight on  the process of the creation and what’s beneath the ideas lets take the work for what it is really…a painting!

I always find very patronising when artists go on and on in telling the viewers what to think of their art work by trying to convince them of  how deep and meaningful and philosophic and bla bla bla… the art work is!!!

Bottom line is that …it is going to move you or not…you are going to love it or hate it…and that the way it should be because after all that’s what art is about!!!!
